I have a dear friend in Tokyo, whose grandfather died during World War II in the Philippines. There is a War Memorial on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines (pictured on a 30 year old photo above) honoring the dead Japanese soldiers there and it is being taken care of by kind, local people there. The grandmother is now 99 and cannot travel to see the monument. But she would like more information about it.
World War II monuments are still controversial in the region, so it is not so easy to find public information.
Can anyone out there help with this? Thank you in advance!
