 PLAY THE LAST TRACK

Phil Lynott made his first solo album between Thin Lizzy records, and Solo in Soho came out in April 1980. It closes with this: three minutes of Lynott half-talking, half-singing his way through the year that had just gone, over Mark Nauseef’s drums. It is back this autumn on The Story of My Life, the eight-CD box of his solo work. Sickert painted the pit of the Old Bedford music hall in Camden: the band playing on while the show goes on above.
